What God Wants You To Do

“He made known to us the mysteries of His will” (Ephesians 1:9 ESV)

Knowing God’s will for us can do incredible things in our lives. God’s will for us is always there. The problem for many of us is that we have never built a relationship with God that has enabled us to understand His will.  God is always talking to us, but much of the time, we are not listening. When you know God’s will for you, your entire outlook on life will change. The darkness of the devil can no longer fill your mind, there is only room for. God, His message, and His will for you.

There are times that you know things in your spirit, your heart, that your mind cannot figure out. A dream, a vision, something you see or read, or something someone says to you can carry God’s words and His will for you when you least expect it.

The closer you get to God, the easier it becomes to tell when He is talking to you. When you have a strong prayer relationship with God, you open the door to receiving His will for you. Have you ever prayed ”The Lord’s Prayer”? (Matthew 6:9-14). Look at all, “thy kingdom comes, thy will be done.” Every time we pray the model prayer, we are asking God to show us His will for us and for His will to be done in us.

God loves you, and he wants nothing but good things for you. He wants to lead you away from evil (sin) and darkness. We have to be willing to open our heart to Him, and be willing to follow His will for us, even when we don’t understand why He is leading us in the direction He has chosen.  God’s wisdom comes to you in many different ways.  It empowers you to accomplish things you could never have done on your own.

Two young boys were playing together. They went to the same school, lived close to each other, and were always together. They were equal in every way.  Now fast-forward forty years, one is a Janitor at a local bank and the other is the president of the bank. How does this happen? God imparts wisdom to you, wisdom that helps you make choices and decisions. He places different people in different positions. He shows His favor to some more than others. Why does He do that? The places people find themselves in, the circumstances of life, are all controlled by God. When God points you in a direction (through His will for you) and you decide to do something different, to go in your own direction, you are thwarting God’s will for you.

God’s Word tells us, “For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11 NIV) God has wonderful plans for you. God can cause you to know something that can change your life. God reveals His will for you is brought about by your relationship with Him. The closer you are to Him, the closer you will be to knowing His will for you.  He may give you something during the night that changes the way you feel in the morning, and what you do that day. His presence can give you purpose, hope, dignity, direction, and the strength to fight for and pursue what He has promised you.  It will not be easy, it will require dedication and obedience to His Word. It will require a commitment to following His will for you. The more you are committed to following His will for you, the more He will reveal His will to you.  You can always be sure that His will for you, when followed, will always be a better life, both in this world and in heaven.
